We’ll traverse the streets and sidewalks of Lower Manhattan to discover narratives of generations past. We’ll explore the Financial District, Civic Center, Chinatown, the Lower East Side, and Little Italy, each a microcosm of rich cultural heritage.

Here, the vibrant threads of African, Jewish, Irish, German, Italian, and Chinese histories intertwined through time and wove New York City’s intricate tapestry of culture and tradition.

• John Street Methodist Church: Step into the birthplace of Methodism in the United States, where African American congregants ignited the creation of the first African Methodist Zion Church in the city.
• African Burial Ground: Uncover the poignant stories at this colonial-era cemetery from the 17th and 18th centuries, where free and enslaved people of African descent found their final resting place.
• Foley Square and Mulberry Park: Dive into the notorious Five Points area and unravel the tales of Tammany Hall, the powerful political machine that once ruled the Democratic Party.
• The Banana King: Discover the fascinating history of the current Wah Wah Sang Funeral Corporation, that was originally an 1881 bank founded by the legendary Italian “Banana King.”
